The development of infrastructure for tourism means the proving of comfort and hospitality to tourists of every hue, be they religious pilgrims, students, families or luxury lovers. This comes not only by building five-star or small budget hotels and running the trains or flying the aircrafts on time. Facilities of reservations, gathering information and above all safety go a long way in conveying that we really care for tourists. The better the facilities less the danger of having unsuspecting tourists duped by touts, or female travelers molested.
Those who visit Indian homes never forget the warmth and graciousness of Indian hospitality. We should ponder over why this civilized behavior disappears when it comes to the service sector. The tourist is generous if he is served well, and to that extent, every tourist guide must behave as a cultural ambassador of India through whom the tourist gathers impressions and information of our country. Comfortable transport should not just be for the rich. Clean and hygienic food should be cooked well and priced reasonably. Lodgings should be clean and aesthetic, no matter the category. Every satisfied and happy tourist becomes the biggest advertisement for Indian tourism.
To carry forward the heritage of our pas we must educate ourselves about it and share it with the rest of the world in a contemporary context. This is what tourism is about, and it includes monuments, entertainment, food and other aspects of our culture all bound together by efficient and well-maintained facilities.
